The revenue from this type of revenue is massive and the incentive to make sure you end up with PPI or some other form of payment protection is even bigger.

Accident Sickness Unemployment - (ASU)

Faced with the worries of unemployment, sickness or accidents threatening to take away the security of your job and income, taking out accident, sickness and unemployment (ASU) cover or income protection seems to make perfect sense.

In theory this kind of cover typically gives you a monthly tax free income should you be unable to work.

Too many people are discovering that in reality these expensive payment protection policies often don't pay out a penny when the going gets tough. They can in fact add to your financial burdens rather than provide you with a safety net.

The small print of accident sickness and unemployment policies often contains numerous exclusion clauses. ASU insurance and ASU income protection policies are invalid if, for example, you have a pre-existing medical condition. Stress and back problems are frequently not covered. Recurring conditions are excluded. Self-employed people often have to stop trading completely in order to make a claim.
